KAUAI SAARE LOODUSE kirjeldamiseks on raske sõnu leida - kui just ei taha siirupiselt romantiliseks muutuda. Võtsin netist paar inglisekeelset kirjeldust (vt. allpool) ja no jumala eest, EI OLE liialdatud. Aga oma silmaga nägemine ja jalaga astumine võtab aega, sest nii mina kui Paul oleme vääääga kehvad "kiirturistid". Meil on AEGA tarvis. Mistap avame saart tasapisi. Tõenäoliselt ei jää see mul viimaseks korraks end Pauli Kauai-töölähetusele kaasa sättida. Jep. Andsin saarele sõrme, aga näe, võttis teine terve käe. Anyway. Kauai on küll suhteliselt väike, kuid avastamist jagub aastateks. Võrdluseks: Saaremaa pindala 2673 km2, Kauai 1430 km2.

/.../ With endless undeveloped beaches and fewer crowds than its neighboring islands, Kauai  is an outdoor adventure lover's paradise and a welcome reprieve from the more tourist-trodden Hawaiian Islands.

Kauai is Hawaii’s fourth largest island and is sometimes called the “GARDEN ISLE,” which is an entirely accurate description. The oldest and northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain is draped in emerald valleys, sharp mountain spires and jagged cliffs, aged by time and the elements. Centuries of growth have formed tropical rain forests, forking rivers and cascading waterfalls. Some parts of Kauai are only accessible by sea or air, revealing views beyond your imagination./.../

/.../ Kauai is a rare feast for the senses:  The scent of plumeria on a warm tropical breeze.  The brilliance of turquoise waters on golden sand.  The calming hush of the surf.  From the depths of Waimea Canyon to the towering emerald cliffs of Napali, the island offers sights so majestic you will quite simply run out of adjectives.

The oldest and only unconquered of Hawaii’s four major islands Kauai has a rich cultural heritage and remains the least developed thanks to a rule that NO BUILDING CAN BE TALLER THAN A COCONUT TREE. In fact, most of the island is accessible only by boat or helicopter.  It is no wonder that Hollywood returns to this exotic landscape again and again for films such as “South Pacific,” Raiders of the Lost Arc” and “Avatar.”

Koloa Landing* is nestled on Kauai’s south shore in sunny Poipu – a locale the Travel Channel once dubbed “the best beach in America.”  With ideal year-round climate, unrivaled recreation and the spirit of aloha, Kauai welcomes you. /.../
